| I got this from a THON meeting i had earlier this month and i wanted to share it. We had known of a little girl named Brooke who was battling cancer and on New Year's day she passed away. We were distraught but our captain comforted us by sharing this story. Please check it out. It is so worth the read:
The Brave Little Soul
By John Alessi
Not too long ago in Heaven there was a little soul who took wonder in observing the world. He especially enjoyed the love he saw there and often expressed this joy with God. One day however the little soul was sad, for on this day he saw suffering in the world. He approached God and sadly asked, "Why do bad things happen; why is there suffering in the world?"
God paused for a monent and replied, "Little soul, do not be sad, for the suffering you see, unlocks the love in people's hearts." The little soul was confused. "What do you mean," he asked. God replied, "Have you not noticed the goodness and love that is the offspring of that suffering? Look at how people come together, drop their differences and show their love and compassion for those who suffer. All their other motivations disappear and they become motivated by love alone."
The little soul began to understand and listened attentively as God continued, "The suffering soul unlocks the love in people's hearts much like the sun and the rain unlock the flower within the seed. I created everyone with endless love in their heart, but unfortunately most people keep it locked up and hardly share it with anyone. They are afraid to let their love shine freely, because they are afraid of being hurt. But a suffering soul unlocks that love. I tell you this - it is the greatest miracle of all. Many souls have bravely chosen to go into the world and suffer - to unlock this love - to create this miracle - for the good of all humanity."
Just then the little soul got a wonderful idea and could hardly contain himself. With his wings fluttering, bouncing up and down, the little soul excitedly replied, "I am brave; let me go! I would like to go into the world and suffer so that I can unlock the goodness and love in people's hearts! I want to create that miracle!"
God smiled and said, "You are a brave soul I know, and thus I will grant your request. But even though you are very brave you will not be able to do this alone. I have known since the beginning of time that you would ask for this and so I have carefully selected many souls to care for you on your journey. Those souls will help you create your miracle; however they will also share in your suffering. Two of these souls are most special and will care for you, help you and suffer along with you, far beyond the others. They have already chosen a name for you."
God and the brave little soul shared a smile, and then embraced. In parting, God said, "Do not forget little soul that I will be with you always. Although you have agreed to bear the pain, you will do so through my strength. And if the time should come when you feel that you have suffered enough. just say the word, think the thought, and you will be brought back to Heaven."
I know a lot of people wonder why there's suffering in the world but the next time you think about that or someone you know does please share with them this wonderful story. It could change a person's view on life and help them cope during hard times. | | |
| Holla!! I think it's about time for an update. Let's see what i've been up to... well i came home and have been hanging out with my Lititz crew and shopping. I also got to see Ashleigh and Shannon (PSU loves) last week which was amazing. I've been hanging out with family, did the CHRISTmas thang, and dogsitting. I also visited the high school (boring) and went to FCA. This week i'm gonna chizill with some more people i haven't seen in a while, go bowling with ma crew, and have a New Year's party. Wooday woo! Haha. Question of the blog is: What is your New Year's resolution? Mine is to grow spiritually and have a good year academically! | | |
| Well i guess it's time to update (cuz Yang says so). The past week and a half back at Penn State after Thanksgiving break has been amazing. I've had Bible study, Cru, Thon meetings, saw Pride and Prejudice, went ice skating, and to the best Christmas party ever. Woot! I'm only here for another week then i'm going home on Wed. with Jordan! I can't wait for break. It'll be so nice not to have to worry about schoolwork. I will however miss my Penn State friends dearly. Alright that's all for now. Comments or i'm not updating. Oh question for this blog... favorite Christmas tradition. Mine is the scavenger hunt we do every year for a big gift. | | |
| Hey hey my lovely Xanga readers! Welp, i'm home for Thanksgiving break and the first thing i did when i came home was have some good home-cooked food. Momma's famous Thai noodle soup! Oh baby! So, i am extremely excited for Thanksgiving. We're going to my brother-in-law's aunt's house in Delaware. We go there every year and it's so much fun. The food is amazing! Yay! Also, during break i'm going to see my small group girls, watch The Notebook with my sister, go shopping, hopefully go see Rent or Pride and Prejudice, and go to church. What a great vacation! I will however miss my Penn State loves! I hope you all have a great vacation and i love you all! Okay, fun question for my blog... what's your favorite Thanksgiving day food? It's hard to choose but i have to say the turkey is my favorite! Mmmmm... TURKEY! | | |
| This past weekend was the fall retreat for Campus Crusade. It was an amazing time. I met some amazing new people including my 13 cabinmates. They're awesome! I only stayed for one day because on Sunday morning i had to go to the Thon 5k to do my moraler thang. So i rode back with Jordan and got to watch the game. And boy what a game it was. Penn State won 63-10! I'm really pumped for the homecoming game this weekend. It should be interesting especially if the weather is anything like it's been lately (today it snowed). And hopefully i'll get to go to the game with the girls from my floor and my new loves at Cru. Ben's also coming for the game so i'm excited to spend time with him this weekend. Well that's all folks... new fun question: what's your favorite movie? I think my favorite movie is The Notebook. It's a hard decision to make. | | |
